PKR slams PAS for being out of touch with reality

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has described the PAS research centre’s findings on Pakatan Harapan as being out of touch with reality.

Contrary to the claim that the newly formed opposition bloc will have a short lifespan, the Pandan lawmaker said Pakatan Harapan would become stronger with its Common Policies agreement next year.

“The analysis (by the research centre) is far from reality. Pakatan Harapan has learnt from past mistakes and now has a mechanism to make it much stronger.

“The reality is that we are facing an Umno that is weak and the people are changing their taste.

“And the reality is also that the people now know the importance of a strong opposition,” Rafizi told reporters today.

The PAS research centre claimed that the shelf life for Pakatan Harapan would be shorter than that of Pakatan Rakyat, which lasted six years.

Conflicts among component parties

Its director Zuhdi Marzuki said this is based on conflicts among Pakatan Harapan component parties PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

Zuhdi’s claim came after DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng criticised five PKR assemblypersons who abstained from voting against a motion on land reclamation tabled in the Penang state assembly by the BN.

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali also told ally Amanah to stop criticising the Selangor state government, which is still made up of PAS assemblypersons.

Commenting further on the matter, Rafizi said the claims made by PAS were not at all realistic in nature.

“The analysis is not based on reality. I don’t think the (research centre’s) view is realistic,” he said.

The Pandan MP believes that the analysis emerged from the Islamist party’s own internal problems.
