Man fined RM5K for sending sex video to woman

KUALA LUMPUR - A man was sentenced to a RM5,000 fine by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court when he pleaded guilty to sending an obscene video to a woman via email on January 15.

The accused, Azmi Yahya, committed the offence emailed a video of an unknown woman performing oral sex to a man via his e-mail account to the victim's e-mail.

According to a statement by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (the man was sentenced on Jan 15, before Judge Zulqarnain Hassan.

Azmi pleaded guilty for his offence, which could land him a three months' jail term if he fails to settle the fine.

The act of sending obscene content through e-mail is an offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

If convicted, the accused could be sentenced to a maximum RM50,000 fine or up to one year's jail, or both.
