Six illegal immigrants nabbed by Marine Police

SEMPORNA - The Semporna Marine Police arrested six illegal immigrants believed to be Philippine nationals in the sea off Tanjung Manimpa on Monday.

Sabah Marine Police Commander ACP Mohamad Madun said yesterday all of them were males and aged between 16 and 75.

They were held under Operation Paradise at about 10.30am after patrolling police personnel came across a pumpboat.

"Preliminary investigation showed that the boatman lives in Kampung Panji, Semporna, while the other five admitted that they were from Sitangkai in the southern Philippines," he said in a statement.

The police seized the pumpboat, 21 empty plastic drums, two empty gas cylinders and two fishing nets, he said. — Bernama
