Clare and Sarawak Report send legal notice to Raja Petra

Raja Petra Kamaruddin has received a legal notice from Sarawak Report editor, Clare Rewcastle-Brown, instructing him to take down all articles about her and Sarawak Report (SR) from his blog, Malaysia Today.

The notice also instructed him to publish an apology drafted by them, failing which a court injunction would be obtained against him.

Raja Petra vowed he would not back down, speculating that this would result in a committal order for contempt of court.

He claimed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the anti-Najib campaign (ANC), Clare and SR wanted to use the court system to silence him.

He added the people in the campaign knew the take-down notice would not work and that they would need to obtain an injunction.

“Further to that, they want me to publish an apology which they will draft and for me to give them a promise in writing that I will never publish any article about Clare and Sarawak Report again.

“In short, I must agree not only to an apology but a gag order for the rest of my life,” he told Malay Mail.

SR had published leaked documents and emails regarding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) for over a year with Raja Petra, through Malaysia Today, rebutting them.

“Do your worst. We have both now crossed the Rubicon and there is no longer any turning back.”
