Amid negotiation over devolution of powers to Sarawak, Nancy was replaced as law minister by Azalina

PETALING JAYA - Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman has replaced Nancy Shukri as minister in charge of law.

According to a statement from Nancy's office, the minister also officially handed over her duties as Acting Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister to Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong on Wednesday.

In return, Mah handed over his duties as the minister overseeing the Malaysian Innovation Agency, the Malaysian Nuclear Power Corporation and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) to Nancy, with effect from June 28.

Nancy was also previously minister in charge of the Malaysian Department of Insolvency (MDI), the Legal Aid Department (JBG), the Office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaysia, the Prime Minister’s Advisory Board, the National Legal Aid Foundation, Judicial and Legal Services Commission, protection division of the Judicial and Legal Training Institute (ILKAP), Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) and the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC).

She was also responsible for legal affairs involving the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

All the above agencies now come under Azalina. A handing over of duties ceremony is expected to take place on July 26.

Nancy still maintains responsibility over the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), and the Sabah and Sarawak Commercial Vehicle Licensing Boards.
