PCS members told to join STAR and contest under Gabungan

KOTA KINABALU - Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) feels that the time is right for the leaders and members of the Parti Cinta Sabah to rethink their political position and seriously consider moving to STAR.

Deputy president of STAR, Edward Linggu, in making this call, said that the position of PCS is now very unstable after leaving Gabungan Sabah (USA).

“The stated intention of PCS in leaving the coalition was to initiate the formation of a grand coalition of Sabah and Malayan parties. It wasn’t stated that such a coalition would begin with a partnership with Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan),” he said.

“Unfortunately, this is now no longer possible with the firm statement by Warisan that it will go alone in the coming general election.”

“Even if such a coalition materializes, a number of serious socio-political issues will surface which will not be in the favour of PCS,” Linggu said. “These issues will force PCS to reverse its ideology and original struggles for the rights of Sabahans.”

He said STAR and the USA is still the best formula for the cooperation among Sabah’s opposition parties for the people of Sabah to topple the Barisan Nasional and create a state government comprising local parties.

“As it is now, PCS is in a bind as to which direction it will take to move forward,” Linggu added.

“As such its members have to think hard and seriously consider uniting with us in STAR under the leadership of Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, and in USA under the leadership of Mohd Noor Mansor.”

Linggu is the former assemblyman for Tamparuli, the constituency now held by the president of PCS, Wilfred M Bumburing who won it under Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s ticket during the last general election. - Borneotoday
