Johor DAP man tells Dr M to resign

PETALING JAYA - Johor DAP state committee member Dr Boo Cheng Hau today called for Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s resignation as prime minister, saying the veteran statesman had belittled the pledges in Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) election manifesto.

He said Mahathir’s statement last July that the manifesto was “a guide, not a bible” showed that he had no confidence in himself or the manifesto.

“It is silly self-degradation for some PH leaders to profess that there would not have been any change of government without Mahathir’s leadership.

“Those who have made such unfounded and misleading statements have admitted their incompetence and should likewise step down from all their official positions,” he said in a statement today.

Boo also hit out at PPBM for accepting former Umno MPs, urging the PH leadership to make a collective statement against such practices.

“The country needs a healthy, competitive bi-coalition system to make institutional reforms work,” he said, adding that it would be a “backward move” if elected representatives were encouraged to cross over from Barisan Nasional to PH.
