ALAM - Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, who had previously faced the gallows
for the murder of North Korean Kim Jong-nam, has been sentenced to three
years and four months in jail after she pleaded guilty to a lesser
alternative charge.
Justice Azmi Ariffin, in his decision, ordered for the jail time to run from Doan's date of arrest, which was Feb 15, 2017.

The 30-year-old bowed down before the judge upon hearing the sentence.
"Soon you will be back in your country and back to your family," Justice Azmi said.
Doan pleaded guilty to the new charge under Section 324 of the
Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
The section provides for imprisonment up to 10 years or fine or whipping or any two of the punishments.
Doan was first charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code that carries the mandatory death sentence.
