Sabah Cabinet appointments disappointing!

KOTA KINABALU - It is a sad day for the Chinese in Sabah when the new Sabah government did not include a Chinese in the state cabinet.

It was anticipated by the people and community leaders that the government do the right thing to balance the equation of representation of various races in the state cabinet. Unfortunately, after much delay and waiting, the announcement came, but with great disappointment to all.

Although all the Chinese candidates lost in the recent polls, its candidates however, did their level best during the campaign . It was not their fault. The tide was against them. They are staunch supporters of GRS. Their efforts should not be discounted and their contribution should be appreciated.

The appointment of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president, Datuk Yong Teck Lee, who was a strong critic of the previous Warisan government, as a nominated assemblyman was expected to fill in the Chinese quota and representative.

However, what role can Yong play without a ministerialship of any kind? Or is it a big slap to the dignity of the Chinese community in Sabah for Yong to be just an ordinary YB?

Disappointed voter
