Killer bodyguard remanded another seven days

The remand of a bodyguard over the police investigation into a shooting at the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway here on December 1 was extended today by another seven days.

Another suspect, who was also remanded for seven days, was released after the Sessions Court dismissed the application to extend his remand.

George Town Sessions Court assistant registrar Ahmad Tajuddin Zain had issued the order to remand the 37-year-old bodyguard.

He dismissed the remand extension application for the other suspect, aged 32, according to the suspect's counsel Jason Khor.

Meanwhile, Penang Police Chief Datuk Abdul Ghafar Rajab said the police would draw up the investigation papers soon.

At 7.15pm on December 1, Datuk Ong Teik Kwang and two other people were killed and five other people were injured after a bodyguard of Ong opened fire in a car driven by Ong and also fired shots at random after alighting from the vehicle.

One of those injured was Radio Televisyen Malaysia cameraman Muhamad Amirul Amin Amir who was passing the place where the shooting took place. ― Bernama
