Police on the lookout for 3 groups linked to shooting incidents in KK

KOTA KINABALU - Police are hot on the heels of three groups of people believed to be behind the shooting spree here and Penampang.

More than 30 reports have been lodged about business premises being shot with air rifles using marbles and pellets as bullets here and Penampang from about 11.30pm.

There are at least 25 reports about windows being smashed here and six in Penampang as police remain on high alert.

City Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Jauteh Dikun said three groups who used two four wheel drives and a car have been identified in their initial investigations.

A manhunt is now on for the groups identified through Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) footages, he said.

Reports came in from about 11.30pm last night but some were only noticed when the premises were opened for business this morning.

Among the areas hit in Penampang were at Donggongon town and the HSK Light Industrial area as well as along Jalan Bundusan.

Within the state capital here among the areas hit were at jalan Gaya, Jalan Pantai, Wisma Merdeka, Warisan Square, KK Times Square, Api-Api Centre, Damai plaza and City Mall.

No other losses were reported except for the smashed windows.
