BEAUFORT - Villagers in Kampung Bangkalalak who are trapped in their house by flood water are in dire need of drinking water as the clean water supply has been cut off.
This was revealed by SAPP Lumadan CLC Chairman Jamain Sarudin who together with his Klias counterpart have been trying to send aid to the villagers who have been stranded for five days.
“ The Villagers are now only relying on rain water they collect but they really need drinking water”, Jamain told SAPP Women Chief Melanie Chia yesterday.
Chia is monitoring the assistance distribution by SAPP leaders to flood victims in Beaufort and said as of yesterday,SAPP Lumadan and Klias had reached out to 208 families in the flood-stricken areas.
Although faced with difficulties in getting to the stranded families, Jamain and his group are not letting up and will try to do all they ca to make sure that they get the assistance.
He reported that the situation in Gadong had improved but not in Bangkalalak and there is an urgent need to get assistance there.
Jamaian said he might be able to reach the victim in Padas Damit on Thursday but not Bangkalalak, because of the strong current as the villagers affected were located at the mouth of the Padas River.
Authorities used helicopters to send aid to the villagers in Bangkalalak, he said
