‘BN, Pakatan care only about oil’

Activist Zainal Ajamain has urged Sarawakians and Sabahans not to get distracted by the 'engineered' smear campaign against Taib Mahmud.

KUCHING - Malaya wanted the Borneo territories including Brunei  for its oil, claims Abolish Cabotage Policy (ACP) activist  Zainal Ajamain.

“It has always been about oil. In World War 2, Japan invaded us for our oil in Miri (Sarawak)  and Malaya in 1963. And until today, Malaya still will not let us go because they cannot let go of our oil and gas wealth. “As we observe the politics in the United States, we see the same policy carried out even when different actors sits in the White House.

“It is the same type of politics being played in Malaysia. This is true especially when it comes from Malaya policies over Sabah and Sarawak,” said Zainal Ajamain, who is also the co-founder of the United Borneo Front (UBF) pointed out that the politics of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Barisan Nasional (BN) was not really about fighting for the Sabah and Sarawak people.

“I’m sure it is not because they care about us or want to make Malaysia stronger, they are both fighting for power to control Sabah and Sarawak.

“They want to take over whatever wealth they want and to hell with the law and Malaysia Agreement 1963.

They want to legitimise their actions with the support of  pro-Malaya leaders from Sabah and Sarawak, ” he said. Zainal said Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud’s assertion earlier this month to Sarawakians not to allow Umno into the state and for local elected representatives to uphold and safeguard the terms enshrined in the Malaysia Agreememt has shocked Putrajaya and Umno leaders.

He said Kuala Lumpur’s reaction is a “reflection of their confusion and fear”. “In Sabah and Sarawak the people are feeling a combination of disbelief and jubilations. “Taib’s strong hold in the Sarawak political scene justifies the support he gets from the people from both Sabah and Sarawak.

“Sarawak now takes the lead in Making Malaysia Strong or to make Malaysia Disintegrate.” he said. He urged Sarawakians and Sabahans not to get distracted by the ‘engineered’ campaign against Taib.

“A smear campaign will distract the people’s attention from what is really going on and for Malaya to have a free hand scooping up Sabah and Sarawak Petroleum and Gas. “This is where the money is, it is not the dam and not even the timber.

“The people in Sabah and Sarawak must wake up to these facts – there will be people who are not happy when we are on our own,” he stressed refering to the increasing call for secession.
