Stop play-acting about defamation case, Yong tells Jimmy

KOTA KINABALU - SAPP President Datuk Yong Teck Lee said State DAP Chief Jimmy Wong should stop play-acting about the defamation case against his colleague Junz Wong.

He said Jimmy should, first of all, ask Junz to repent and apologise for his lies about the so-called “RM50million bribe” and “Project M” against SAPP and him.

“Jimmy Wong for sure knows that the “RM50million bribe” and “Project M” allegations made by Junz against SAPP and myself are blatant and vicious lies. If Jimmy, who has known me for close to 40 years, thinks that Junz’s serious accusations are not lies, then he would not be talking about forging a pact with SAPP, ” said Yong, a former Chief Minister.

He said if Junz, is sincere to settle the case, he should instruct his lawyer to do the needy in time for court mediation which has already been fixed for next month.

“ Talking petty politics in media is not conducive to a settlement. My earlier efforts to drop the defamation case against DAP as party was met with obstacles from Junz who had insisted on high costs. Imagine, how ridiculous it is for Junz to make it more difficult for me drop a case against his party?” he said.

He said such is the attitude of DAP leaders who now have the cheek to demand that he drop all the four cases against Junz, the sole remaining defendant, after DAP had denied responsibility for the offending articles which were made and caused to be published by Junz.

“Jimmy is also insincere about DAP being gracious in not claiming the costs of RM4.500. In fact, last month, Junz had instructed his lawyer to send a Letter of Demand to my lawyer for me to pay RM4.300 (not RM4.500) within seven days, failing which his lawyer will proceed to execute without further notice against me,” said Yong.

“This is why I urge Jimmy and his DAP colleagues to stop telling lies and stop play-acting politics. Instead, Jimmy and Junz should just serve the people who have elected them,” he added.
