Sarawak Report editor: Sue me if nothing to hide

Against the principles of Democracy

PETALING JAYA - Sarawak Report founder Clare Rewcastle Brown said prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak could sue her for defamation if her reports were fabricated, but acting against dissidents is most positively against the principles of a government seeking to assure the world it is a sane democracy.

Brown said she was merely an investigative journalist doing her job with the interest of the public as her motivation and duty, absolutely no plot or vested interest.

She slammed the prime minister for sacking, removing and arresting individuals officially engaged in the investigation of the 1MDB scandal.

"He has not just attacked my blog and myself, but other reputable news organizations, closing down two papers.

"If the prime minister had nothing to hide in this matter and if my reports were false, there would be numerous more orthodox and far less disruptive methods of dealing with me than sacking his deputy prime minister, sacking the Attorney-General, closing down the PAC, and dismissing members of his cabinet."
