KADAMAIAN, October 23, 2012: The people of Kampung Tambulian Laut were disappointed with the local leaders for not attending to their plight especially problem facing students who are using the dilapidated suspension bridge daily to school in SK Tambulian.
The suspension bridge had been repaired 3 years ago, but was declared unsafe a year ago. Therefore the village committee headed by the village head submitted a application to the authority concerned for allocations to upgrade the bridge but to date, no action was taken to solve the problem.
SAPP Kadamaian CLC Chief, Agnes Liewpin had on last Friday while visiting the site bumped into a few students who were crossing the bridge, agreed that the bridge is totally not safe to be used anymore.
"Anyone who uses the bridge need to be very careful, a wrong step can cause one to fall into the river and it will get worse during rainy days as it was more slippery," Agnes told.
According to one student, they would be either late to school or not able to go to school during raining.
"There were two schools situated at Kampung Tambulian, SK Tambulian is in Kampung Tambulian laut and SMK Tambulian Laut, Jalan Kg Piasau in Kampung Tambulian Laut. The bridge will be used by poor students who cannot afford to pay chartered school bus, everyday walking to and back from school.
"SK Tambulian was host for the Pre Jamboree 100th year School Scouts event held last year in June and therefore, the Government should not have overlooked the problem of the people in this kampong," Agnes said.
