Its Tawau Parliamentary candidate, Datuk Chua Soon Bui, said those who made the complaints did not receive the cash and goods which they claimed were said to be 1Malaysia aid.
“I am told that the cash and goods have been distributed at Taman Tawau Garden, Taman Wira, Taman Hua Li and Taman Da Hua 4 so far. I want those responsible for the distribution to clarify whether it is for everyone or just the Chinese community as some did not receive it,” she said yesterday.
Chua, who is defending the seat, added if the constribution is from Barisan Nasional (BN) then everyone should receive and not only certain selected people.
“At the moment, we have no way to clarify to the people whether it is for everyone, the poor or senior citizens. I hope those responsible will come forward and clear the air as the people are asking where to get the aid. It is even appearing in Facebook,” she said.
The people should not be given preferential treatment or partial distribution, especially the poor and the senior citizens, as they do not understand.
Meanwhile, Chua also said that there are people going around giving a few hundred Ringgit and collecting people MyKads.
“The MyKads will be given back after pooling day. What is the purpose? I advise the people not to give their MyKad to anybody and if I find out who is doing this I will personally make a police report as it is against the law to be in possession of someone else’s MyKad,” she said.
Chua said registered voters should be very careful as their MyKad could be used to borrow money from loan sharks and sold to others.
On voters being threatened if they vote for the opposition, Chua said she hoped the voters will not bow to pressure such as the threat of their license being revoked and welfare stopped.
Chua meanwhile challenged all the BN Tawau candidates to a public debate on various pressing issues affecting the State and the people of Tawau, in particular.
She stressed that this should be the appropriate approach for any aspiring candidate who wishes to get elected as the people’s representative in the coming general election, instead of resorting to all sorts of unethical and cowardice acts to slander their opponents.
The incumbent made the call after dismissing the recent news report quoting Mohammed Dahu, the brother of SAPP candidate for Apas, Tahir Dahu that 500 SAPP members had defected to Umno.
Chua also challenged Mohammed to produce the names of the so-called 500 SAPP members of the so-called 11 branches, to substantiate his claim.
Regretting that Mohammed has gone all out to sabotage his own brother Tahir’s campaign, she urged the former to resolve his family feud amicably.
