SAPP may have lost polls but pride and dignity intact

KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) may have lost badly in the last general election, but nonetheless it has maintained its principles of honesty and the right political culture, said its president Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee.

“The party did not engage in spreading lies, which is not the party’s culture, unlike others. Those who lied and commit corruption are not us.

“What we do today can come back to us one day and vice-versa what may seem bad today, may end up good tomorrow,” he said.

He said this while speaking at the party’s annual Parents’ Day celebration held at the Grand Port View Seafood Restaurant, on Saturday.

It was also the first official event organised by the party, after the 13th General Election.

Yong also warned that politics of hate propagated by a certain politicians is dangerous.

“We have the right to disagree, but others took it as either you are with us or against us and they will mark you, start hate campaign against you,” he said, adding that SAPP will continue to be with the people of Sabah.

Meanwhile, SAPP Wanita Chief Melanie Chia Chui Ket, who was the former Luyang Assemblywoman, said the catastrophic result of the 13thGeneral Election will not discourage SAPP from organising this meaningful annual event of filial piety to parents, which has been on since the party’s inception in 1994.

“We shall use our fellowship tonight to continue our fight,” she added.

Quoting a popular Chinese saying, she said: “If you want to rule the country well, you must first manage your family well. Don’t tell lies to your family and to the people, we don’t tell lies, we don’t use money politics.”

Later, Yong also presented prizes to the winners of the “Eldest Father” and “Eldest Mother” competitions.
