Hiew King Cheu takes leave; future still uncertain?

KOTA KINABALU - The people’s interests and wishes will remain the ultimate consideration and deciding factor for his future direction, so claims Luyang Assemblyman Dr Hiew King Cheu.

“The people’s interest and wish must always come first, party’s 2nd,” he stressed. (Pic shows removal of flag from DAP Luyang office)

He also said he would have no qualms leaving the DAP, the party ticket which helped win in Luyang, if that is the wish of the people and it is in their best interest.

Hiew reiterated this when asked to comment on the rife talks in the public domain that he might ditch DAP, especially now that he announced his taking leave starting today.

Hiew also acknowledged that there has been a mixed feedback from the ground on whether he should remain in DAP, or to join another political party, with slightly higher percentage of those who wished for him to seek a new political platform, citing the need for positive change and development in Luyang.

He said he would give the matter a serious thought while spending his holidays outside the state.

Hiew recently announced his quitting of Sabah DAP Advisor post to register his dissatisfaction over four of his party colleagues who complained to DAP’s disciplinary board to take actions against him for supporting PKR’s Datuk Lajim Ukin instead of Tamparuli assemblyman Datuk Wilfred Bumburing for the post of state opposition leader in June.

Hiew had also openly criticized the action of the four who are themselves elected representatives, describing them as ungrateful of his contribution and guidance all these years.

In a brief statement issued here today, he explained that he needed to take a break as he has not been on holiday for a few years now.

He said this was because he was tied down by his busy work en he was the Member of Parliament for Kota Kinabalu, and now as the State Assemblyman.

Hence, with the conclusion of the State Legislative Assembly sitting on the 19th of August 2013, he decided to go for a holiday to recuperate and to think for the future work.

However, he did not elaborate on where he is going for holiday and for how long.

Hiew said he still can be contacted through e-mails, SMS and Whatsapp or through his office, if there’s anything urgent, adding that he will be still issuing press statements regularly, even if he’s in the North Pole.

Hiew also noted that during this absence, his constituents can always call up his ADUN office in Foh Sang, if they need any assistance.

“My assistants will be happy to assist the people, and it is business as usual.,” he said.
