By Clement Lee
Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth Exco Clement Lee has put the entire blame on the Barisan Nasional (BN) government who has failed miserably in improving the standard and quality of living of fellow Sabahans because of unsustainable economy, poor basic utilities, mediocre infrastructure and transportation planning, in no small part due to the lack of autonomy from current administration.
A recent study by World Bank entitled 2010 Malaysia Economy Monitor (MEM) found Sabah to be the poorest of any states in Malaysia. What did we do to deserve this title?
The hand-out of RM500 goodie by BN-led government for households earning less than RM3000 a month is merely a political gimmick to hook-wink the voters because the election is just around the corner. The hand-out should have been given long before BN decided to increase the price of petrol in few years back. Please bear in mind that we are not against this hand-out but why has it been taking so long and only one off payment?
He lamented that despite Sabah is blessed with rich and abundant of natural resources, yet our wages are one of the lowest in Malaysia, while ironically having the highest cost of living in the country. It has gradually emerged that the rich is getting richer while the poor is getting poorer and showing that the disparity of income between the rich and middle class is growing larger.
In fact, Sabah should be developed better than the 11 states in Semenanjung Malaysia today. In addition, Sabah is strategically located in the heart of South East Asia.
Posing these questions in a statement issued here today, SAPP Youth Exco Clement Lee stressed that the BN-led government has failed to create a sustainable economywhich lead to failure in producing enough jobs and business opportunities for the locals, whilst at the same time, stifling the market with an influx of illegal immigrants to compete for jobs with genuine Sabahans. This has and will continue to directly pull down the wages and affect the Sabahan job market.
He pointed out that with little purchasing power, we see the direct impact on the livelihoods of small and medium businesses statewide, as we notice shops and malls, coming and going at an alarming rate, ever so frequently.
Most of the young working adults find it hard to survive with the ever escalating cost of living whilst yet their salary remain stagnant, not tallying with the inflation in the state.
He continued that the Tourism Sector is one of the 3 sectors (Manufacturing, Tourism and Agriculture) identified in "Halatuju of the State" and is one of the three main thrusts of development of the state.Without giving much thoughts, consultations and deliberations, national carrier MAS has decided to terminate the 4 international flights to and fro KKIA. This ill-conceived move is directly affecting the local tourism industry, our tour agencies, tourist guides, hotel industries and many such related businesses.
He attributed all these problemscontribute that autonomy to Sabah is of paramount importance. For example: Cabotage and Open Sky policy. We cannot solely rely only on hand-outs given once in a blue moon to become our habit for Sabah development. It should be legitimate. We have dignity and pride. We must ensure the standard of living of fellow Sabahans improve and continue to improve with proper governance and administration, one that only a true-blooded Sabahan would understand, implement and manifest.
The time is now. Sabahans must take a stand and stay united in defending our rights and ensuring the return of the state government to the hands of Sabahans. Decisions, big and small, need not go through the Federal government. We decide our own future, ourselves.

Right on SAPP! No power how to manage?
ReplyDeleteThe same thing being said all over again and again and again.Sounds more like broken records.SAPP can say it a thousand time and even a million time but the majority of Sabahans still have no faith and trust in their leadership.SAPP must have been fed with all the false and wrong information on the support they get therefore they are so much buoyed with confidence and hope of toppling BN.They must be surrounded by the best spin doctors that fed them with the wrong medication.Just look at the SAPP guys talking as if they are going to be the next govt.Govt in Hell, yes but in Sabah, definitely NO!
ReplyDeleteOne thing for sure, i wouldn't want Yong Teck Lee to be the next cm.
DeleteYTL support if Anwar become PM bcoz he want to be CM again.
DeleteYTL support if Anwar become PM bcoz he want to be CM again.
DeleteSAPP has many big dreams, but these will not be fulfilled without the support from the people.
ReplyDeleteSAPP just many talk, but do nothing.
DeleteSAPP was given a chance once, but they did not use that opportunity properly, should the people give them another chance? Its up to the voters.
DeleteSAPP Dream come true or dream on, its all up to the Sabahan voters. We'll wait for the next GE.
ReplyDeletewhat SAPP's contribution and way to get back Sabah's autonomy? we need some action as a prove.
ReplyDeletehope SAPP can show more in action that just talking and give sweet promise.

Your answer is here:

It is in the hands of the people to make their choice.
ReplyDeleteThere is need for action and motive behind every dream towards improving the state.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of which party, the support of the people matter a lot.
ReplyDeletethe people know to make choice.
DeleteSabahans should remain united and vote wisely.
ReplyDeleteLet’s adopt a better future plan for our next generation by making the right decision now.
ReplyDeleteGE is coming. have you registered to vote yet?? Vote wisely!
DeleteSAPP is a hope that Sabahans must hold firm and believe, Vote for Sabah.
ReplyDeleteNO AUTONOMY NO ECONOMY
ReplyDeleteSabah and Sarawak already lost their economies- oil to UMNO/Petronas and timber and land to the string of corrupt local leaders.
It is no longer a question of "autonomy" as 48 years have shown that we were conned and wasting our time to be in "Malaysia" which in those days people were already saying was just a re-colonization scheme.
So now Malaya controls everything and Sabah people have to get the OK from Putrid Jaya to do anything important...
A rich country reduced to be the poorest.
Yet we are talking about "autonomy".
What is the point of remaining in Malaysia?
We should have enough resources to be fully self-reliant financially and have actual self-rule that is independence.
Even Scotland which was swallowed into UK like Sabah and Sarawak were swallowed by Malaya, is now demanding an independence referendum. They were ruled by London since 1705!
So Sabahans let's uphold the spirit of the Sabah Kinabalu heroes and be daring to fight for real independence.
If all Sabahans unite they will be strong enough to throw out the Malayan rulers. Do not submit to be colonial subjects of Kuala Lumpur!
In fact we just need to pressure the Sabah government to uphold the spirit of Malaysia Agreement. If they don't do it, we will take another move.
ReplyDeleteIn SAPP, we are fighting for One Country Two Systems like Aceh and Jakarta, HK, Macau and China.
Sabah government should has the full administrative power in Sabah matter. This is call Autonomy!
If say you hold a referendum on such issue 95% will support Malaysia and the remaining 5% will be the opposition supporters combined.
ReplyDeleteI think many people are just get carried away by the new found enthusiasm shown by the opposition taking it for granted that it will be doomsday for UMNO/BN.I just wonder where they get such wild ideas that UMNO/BN is a weakling.
Let it goes straight to their heads that UMNO/BN is strong and getting stronger by the day and therefore there should not be any qualms on their abilities to crush the opposition and send them to kingdom come in the next GE.
Save your breath for the final campaigning for it could be your last. The final nail will be blasted in the opposition coffins in GE13 and UMNO/BN will ensure the results will be impressive and convincing that there is no longer any doubt in the peoples mind who the real champion of the people is.
REAL CHAMPIONS FOR CORRUPTION AND LOOTING OF SABAH.
DeleteCAN'T YOU ALL SEE WE ARE NO MORE THAN A COLONY OF MALAYA- DIRECTLY RULED BY UMNO!
SABAHANS HAVE NO SAY IN THEIR FUTURE....AUTONOMY JUST PROLONGS THE KL COLONIAL CHAINS!
A gimmick huh, better choose wisely during the election.
ReplyDeleteHow are we suppose to know SAPP is also on the track to making Sabah a better place? With actions? By words? Every party can say or do the same thing for other purposes.
ReplyDeleteyea and for all you know, sapp be just as same as the governemt. yikes.
DeleteIf SAPP wins, then can determine whether it is on track or not..not yet win, no cerita lah...hehe
Deletehahahha... Biasalah Fay, politik kan... Manis mulut berbicara, kalah gula:P
ReplyDeleteNamun terpulanglah pada setiap individu. Kalau nak percaya dengan sapp pun its OK, itukan hak masing-masing:P
ReplyDeleteJangan saja kemudian hari baru nak menyesal, dah la...
ReplyDeletethat is what people want. If any of the parties could prove to the people that they will do that, that party will surely win the people's heart.
DeleteEvery time when election comes, too many promises are made..sometimes they are just too good to be true..
Deletememang mudah jika hanya sekadar bercakap..rakyat pandai-pandailah menilai.
ReplyDeleteI can see many of those UMNO puppets do not like to see Sabah prosper. I wonder which planet you guys came from? lol
ReplyDeleteSabah "prospered" for the corrupt few foreign multinationals who are having a great time taking profits from our oil gas and other minerals!
DeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteI think Sabah is known the poorest because of the PTI.
ReplyDeleteya...kan PATI juag dikira penduduk sabah..lainlah kalau dikira hanya rakyat tulen sabah sahaja...pasal tulah RCI mesti ditubuhkan.
DeleteRCI patut ditubuhkan sebelum PRU13.
DeleteThe future of sabah is in the people's hands. So vote wisely!
ReplyDeleteIts really difficult to tell whether the party is actually sincere. All their words sounds too good to be true. Will they fulfill those promises if they win???? Now, that's what troubles me.
ReplyDeleteSabah people will reject all the parties from Malaya who come into Sabah to steal, rob and destroy our natural resources.
ReplyDeleteSabah people will not easily fall into their ploy and greediness especially UMNO and PR. Both are the same!
Those party malaya agent in Sabah are the highest hypocrite in the making. They are merely a parrot to their boss from malaya.
Anwar jadi PM, YTL jadi CM. Belum apa2 lagi sudah bodek Anwar.
ReplyDeletesudah pasti YTL gila power punya maa..Sama macam tu anwar. Mahu tawan putrajaya pun bukan kerja mudah sudah heboh mahu jadi PM. menang dulu la baru ada cerita maa..
Deleteberlagak besar saja bah tu...belum pun pasti sapp dan pr menang pru13..
DeleteDouble standard??
Allah tahu kerja dosa mereka.
Allahku tahu kerja dosa kamu.
ReplyDeleteBlame it all on BN huh, better think twice about it.
ReplyDeleteJanganlah hanya pandai menuduh. pandai2lah kamu...
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong for local Sabah party like SAPP to ask for 2/3 of state seat which in line with SAPP struggle to fight for Sabah autonomy.
ReplyDeleteFredoline, don't you want to see Sabah to have an autonomous SAPP government?
So how about the other local opposition party?
DeleteWe do want an autonomous government for Sabah, but not necessary SAPP as our government.
DeleteAnak Petagas,
ReplyDeletedosa2 dilakukan olej kamu Allahku tahu. Jangan kamu memperbodohkan rakyat lagi dengan niat setan kamu.
If don't blame BN then blame the rakyat who voted this corrupted BN government into power?
ReplyDeleteNo worries, all the Sabah people will show BN an exit door this time.
We voted a government to solve people problems but this corrupted BN to import their illegal immigrants to give more problems to the people and furthermore, umno legalized them to become instant bumiputra which causes a direct impact to Sabah native in terms of welfare, security and what not. Umno is suck big time!
ReplyDeleteWe know what the clement stated about the poorest news by World bank about Sabahans. But it's in 2010 and how about last year 2011? If we look Sabah is the one of states in Malaysia the rapid development. Sabah govt try to make sure more foreign investors come to Sabah. The example is SOGT in Kimanis, Papar Sabah. If this project finish will give job opportunities for the people at that area. Can also solve the unemployment and same time help the poor to get a job to. So we support the best for Sabah.
ReplyDeleteGovt know what to do for Sabahans..Let support BN Sabah for continued their responsibility.. Go BN go Sabah..
ReplyDeletePerjuangan autonomy and perjanjian 20 perkara, pertambahan loyalty harus diteruskan.
ReplyDeleteSAPP harus membuktikan dengan tindakan dan result.
ReplyDeleteSabah remain the poorest, what is the reason? Indeed the government mistakes.
ReplyDeletewhen you urge Sabahan to stay united in defending our rights, can your party stay united with other opposition party to avoid three cornered fight?
ReplyDeleteAdakah BN faham keperluan orang Sabahan?
ReplyDeleteJangan pandai mengkritik.
SAPP Boleh x 3!
ReplyDeleteSAPP banyak cakap sahaja..perjuangan mereka pun tiada arah tuju..
ReplyDeleteEkonomi Sabah semakin merosot setiap tahun.
ReplyDelete
