Upko president Bernard Dompok instead endorsed the re-appointment of former deputy chief minister Wences Angang as one of the vice-presidents.
KOTA KINABALU -Federal Minister of Science and Innovation Ewon Ebin has found himself outside the loop in his party, the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko).
Ebin is not in the list of the party’s 2013-2016 executive committee having lost in his bid for the deputy president’s post following party elections last month.
Bernard Dompok who retained the president post unopposed announced Monday that Tuaran MP Wilfred Madius Tangau, the former secretary general who defeated Ebin, is now the party’s number two.
Former Moyog assemblyman Donald Mojuntin who took over the Penampang division chief post from Dompok is now the party’s new secretary general.
Dompok chaired the new party’s supreme council first meeting on Friday which endorsed the re-appointment of former deputy chief minister Wences Angang as one of the vice-presidents.
Angang was one of the elected vice-presidents of the party but did not contest during the party’s 14th triennial delegate conference on Oct 22 at the Tun Fuad Stephens Hall in Penampang.
Mojuntin was information chief in the previous term, a post now taken over by Albert Bingkasan, Dompok’s former parliamentary special task officer.
Dompok also announced the re-appointment of Putatan MP Marcus Mojigoh as treasurer general, while his former deputy, Wong Thien Fook has become organising secretary.
Others appointed to the executive committee are Georgina George (deputy secretary general), Sualim Gopog (deputy treasurer general) and Lightson Kohiya (deputy information chief).
Ten others appointed as ordinary supreme council members are: Ewon Benedick, Kuala Penyu Assemblyman Limus Jury, Eldy Yakin Sinit, Datin Juliana Janni, Kennedy John Angian, Pangiran Lalung, Ronald James, Felix Joseph, Joisin Romut and Jasni Rijan.
There are three posts yet to be filled, one for vice president and two ordinary members. The others were elected during the recent party congress.
The elected vice presidents are Paginatan assemblyman Siringan Gubat, Sook assemblyma Bobbey Suan, Marcus Mojigoh, Kuamut assemblyman Masiung Banah, Senator Lucas Umbul, Wences Angang, Jaina Sintian (Women) and Arthur Sen (Youth).
Those who won supreme council seats are: Suki Mee, Gilbert Syam, Suip Saniman, Jair Munty, Akuang Suan, Basari Sarkun, Sylvester Taing, Johnny Intang, Condrad Wong, Tailin Mainan, Muji Ampau, and Carl Mosom.
Also elected and now in the executive committee are: Alex Among, Dennison Indang, Walter Pinsius Galis, Monih Epin, Ewon Benedick, Limus Jury, Eldy Yakin Sinit, Datin Juliana Janni, Kennedy John Angian, Pangiran Lalung, Ronald James, Felix Joseph, Joisin Romut and Jasni Rijan.
