Strong Winds, Turbulent Seas Until Saturday

KUALA LUMPUR - Strong winds and turbulent seas in the waters of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, east Johor, Sabah, Labuan and Sarawak are expected to continue until this Saturday.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement today that strong northeasterly winds with speeds of between 40 and 50 kph and sea waves as high as 3.5 metres would be dangerous to small boats and sea sports and recreational activities.

It said category one northeasterly winds were also forcasted to continue blowing across the waters of Samui, Tioman, Condore, Bunguran, Reef South, Reef North, Layang-Layang, Palawan and Sulu until Saturday.

Thunderstorms over the waters of Sarawak, the Federal Territory of Labuan, and Sabah (west coast, Kudat and Sandakan), Reef South, Reef North, Layang-Layang and Sulu are expected to continue until this afternoon.

This condition could result in strong winds of up to 50 kph and turbulent seas with waves up to 3.5 metres high, hence dangerous to small boats.
