Malay NGOs leaders in Peninsula turned extremists

By Hj Amde Sidik

KOTA KINABALU - The remarks made by the NGOs leaders like Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman from Isma [Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia] and Perkasa Youth Chief Irwan Fahmi urging Malaysians to celebrate and declare that the ruling of High Court as victory for Muslims. I must ask this question. Are Muslims at war with non-Muslims in this country? Is there a need to say and behave the way they did?

The High Court ruled today against SIB (Sidang Injil Borneo) of which the usage of word Allah is exclusively for Malay.

To me the affair is stupid it shouldn’t have to go to court in the first place. Imagine now, the cost and time incurred to institutions and people.

Fifty years ago we lived harmoniously regardless of different races and religions, perhaps we can never be the same again because of these lunatic and religious bigots. Our media shouldn’t pay attention to people like this. There is no indication either if the authority would discourage these groups; instead people that hold power back them.

From Borneo people’s perspective, why are we too preoccupied with this issue? Why Malays in Peninsula turning extreme on religion when they have everything else at their disposal, are they feeling inferior?

More than 70 percent of Sabahans have relatives of non-Muslims in Sabah. If argument that everything else is based on religion I must say this is not only wrong but stupid policy.

There is something unique in Sabah when we talk about religion. We can still find in a family, living under one roof, where the mother and father are Christians (Roman Catholic) the daughters are Muslims and another couldn’t care less about religion, this is very unlike in the Peninsula. If there are efforts to disrupt the family ties because of religion I consider it’s morally very wrong.

Between the Muslims intruders and my Christian or atheist cousins I would rather be with my cousin and not with Muslims intruders. This is what we are in Sabah.

  1. I salute a true a true Sabahan. Sadly some have fallen to the west malaysian ideology mainly the younger generations. I suspected from teachers and ustazs or ustazahs from semenanjung. I'm not againts these people from w.m. but we need to maintain the harmony here in beloved Sabah and reject any extremist ideology.
