KOTA KINABALU, August 11, 2014: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth demands that the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry ( RCI) on the Sabah illegal immigrants be made public.
A peaceful gathering to ask why the findings have not yet been made public was organised here in Lintasan Deasoka, Kota Kinabalu (Gaya Street) by some twenty youths led by its Youth Chief, Edward Dagul.
We are puzzled why the findings of the RCI have not yet been made public by the authorities, said Edward.
The kidnappings, linked to the perennial problem of the large population of illegal immigrants in the east coast of Sabah in recent months have caused Sabahans great concern. The people of Sabah deserves better security, thus, the importance of the findings, coupled with, the RCI recommendations to the government.
"We hope that the government will not withhold the findings for too long. Don't use this as a political gimmick, to appease the public just to fish for votes "pancing undi".
The RCI was set after SAPP Youth had initiated the signature campaign for the setting up of the RCI way back in February, 2011. Since then, the RCI was set up in August 2012 and the ensuing hearing lasted until September 2013 after some 211 witnesses were summoned.
"We truly believe that the kidnappings and other crimes related with the illegal immigrants presence in Sabah can only be resolved if the authorities ac positively upon the findings.”
The gathering was also attended by Jamain Sarudin, Vice chief of SAPP Youth movement and Tuan Haji Amde Sidek, SAPP Deputy President, Datuk Richard Yong, the Secretary General of the Party, Chong Pit Fah SAPP Information Chief, Supreme Councillors Yong Chong Kim and Ken Yong Chie Man and members.
