Pro-BN NGOs going for the jugular of sex blogger

Ten non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today urged for sex blogger, Alvin Tan be returned to Malaysia to be investigated for his status and picture updates via his Facebook account recently.

Chairman for Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM), Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah said some 30 people from 10 NGOs today lodged a police report urging for Tan to be detained and investigated for sparking controversy by using foul language towards the country’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Abdul Rani said, Tan had insulted Najib, Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as well as Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

“We want the police to take strict action against Tan and urge for him to be returned to Malaysia to face the music.

“We hope that in one week’s time, there will already be action taking by the authorities. If there are no changes, we will not hesitate to demonstrate in front of the United States embassy here,” Abdul Rani said after lodging the police report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters this morning.

It was reported that Tan is now seeking for political asylum in the US after failing to return to Malaysia in June from Singapore.

President of the 1Malaysia coalition of NGOs, Mohammad Nazlee Aziz Yeop said, he found it weird that Tan was allowed to leave for the country while his court case was ongoing.

He added Tan could be considered as a national threat and his passport should be surrendered to the relevant authority.

Tan was reported as having gone missing after he failed to return his passport to the Sessions Court on June 3 which was the date set to enable him and his then girlfriend, Vivian Lee, to be allowed to go to Singapore.

Both were undergoing trial for two charges under the Film Censorship Act and the Sedition Act.

Lee who returned to Malaysia was reported to have surrendered her passport.

However, Tan who failed to do so, had an arrest warrant issued for him.

“We believe that with this police report, strict action will be taken against Alvin for his rude behaviour,” Mohammad Nazlee said.
