STAR Objects to Birth Certificate Issuance to Illegals

KOTA KINABALU - “While we appreciate the need to issue Birth Certificates to any newborn as a human rights concern, we strongly object to the issuance of birth certificates to illegals residing illegally in the country” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, commenting on the recent statement by the Home Minister.

“It is not our duty to issue birth certificates to the children of illegal immigrants who are foreigners” stressed Dr. Jeffrey.

Given the dark history of illegal immigrants and foreigners being given Malaysian IDs for political expediency, it is hardly surprising that we, Sabahans, do not feel comfortable with the statement by the Home Minister and the actions of the National Registration Department in the issuance of birth certificates to illegals.

It is a lame and unacceptable excuse that the birth certificates are given to future schooling purpose.

It is nothing more than a disguise to eventually giving them ICs, citizenship and the right to vote.   It is treason, to say the least.

If at all birth certificates are to be issued to newly born babies, the birth certificate records should be differentiated by a colour code or an identity code of newly born being classified as being non-Malaysians.  This differentiation give more confidence to the locals that there have been no abuse of citizenship.

“For this reason, Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal governments should establish a Taskforce under the Inter-governmental Committee to review the system, procedure and format of new birth certificates affecting foreigners especially in the Borneo States” said Dr. Jeffrey.

The Sabah government need to safeguard the rights and interests of Sabahans and need to stand up to the federal government and stop their treasonous acts before it is too late.
