About 400 villagers left homeless in Likas fire

KOTA KINABALU: About 400 villagers sought shelter at the Dewan Likas after fire destroyed their homes at Kampung Gusung here, last night.

It is learnt that more than 60 houses were razed in the fire that started at about 8pm.

Sabah Fire and Service Department public relations officer Mohd Affendy K. Ramin said the department received a distress call 8.02pm and deployed 31 firefighters to the village.

"The team had some difficulty going into the area because the houses were built close to each other.

"Thus far, we have ensure all villagers are safe and no casualties are reported."
