KOTA KINABALU - Police have arrested a man known as ‘Mat Malaya’ sought in connection with the shooting of a mechanic last May.
The 44-year-old, who is a brother of former federal minister Noh Omar, was detained last night after a police team from the Sabah police headquarters and the Ranau police station raided a homestay facility in Kundasang at about 10.50pm, said Sabah police commissioner Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman.
His 24-year-old Sabahan wife was also held during the raid, he said in a statement.
“Police also seized two handphones,” he added.
Mat Malaya, whose last-known address was in Shah Alam, Selangor, disappeared after he shot a 36-year-old mechanic in the right leg at an car air-condition repair workshop in Jalan Tuaran.
He is believed to have fired three shots, one of which hit the victim’s leg. - BERNAMA
