CAGM’s social media experiment is despicable

The experiment invites further ridicule on a nation that is already reeling under scandal.

Right-minded citizens who care enough for our country should condemn the Citizens for Accountable Governance Malaysia’s (CAGM) so called “social media experiment”.

The “experiment” released “information” about a Statutory Declaration (SD) that implicated the Prime Minister in corrupt money transfers.

The SD was purportedly signed by an ex-AMBank staffer who was supposedly fired for asking too many questions about the transfer of monies.

CAGM later claimed that the entire SD incident was untrue and was merely designed to show how the media thrives on reporting sensational news. CAGM’s actions related to this “hoax” were totally uncalled for especially in these times when the nation’s political climate is overheating and fissures are already appearing across the board.

Our nation is currently being bombarded with unceasing allegations about scandalous developments. Foreign media have their headlights aimed at the country and here we go inviting ridicule again with a Made-in-Malaysia NGO releasing misinformation under the guises of a so-called social media experiment.

This despicable action must not only be condemned but severe action must be taken by the relevant authorities. We should send a message that such shaming of the nation is unacceptable.

The body of journalists in the country must register their protests so that we are never again subject to such distasteful tricks. AmBank chieftains should also register their displeasure over CAGM’s unethical behaviour.

Over and above all this we must also ask… Will the prime minister swing his club at the CAGM? Will the Inspector-General of Police act without fear or favour? They must!
