5 Chinese tourists in stripping act blacklisted from entering Sabah

KOTA KINABALU - Five Chinese tourists have been blacklisted from entering Sabah after the authorities identified them among those involved in stripping naked and posing nude at a beach in Sibuan Island in Semporna.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman, however, said that the matter would be looked into from all angles and the law.

“We have identified four or five of them and may blacklist them from entering the state in the future,” he said at a press conference at the 13th countervailing between the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) with Police Republic of Indonesia East Kalimantan at Pacific Sutra Harbour here yesterday.

Also present was East Kalimantan Police chief Inspector General of Police, Drs Safaruddin.

Jalaluddin was asked to comment on photos of a group of tourists allegedly stripping and posing nude on a beach at Sibuan Island in Semporna, which went viral in social media about a week ago.

Following the incident, the police on Oct 21 detained a 33-year-old professional diving instructor after he was seen in the photo with the group of tourists who stripped naked at Sibuan Island in Semporna.

Meanwhile, Jalaluddin said the authorities had taken the diving instructor’s statements and the case would be handed to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.

“I have also instructed Semporna police chief Superintendent Peter Umbuas to meet and talk to resort and chalet operators to monitor tourists’ activities so such incident will not happen in the future,” he said.
