PM failed to acknowledge Sabah's right to 40% entitlement - Yong

KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) President Datuk Yong Teck Lee today expressed disappointment that the PM's speech today on the 2016 budget did not even acknowledge Sabah's right to the 40% entitlement (net federal revenues derived in Sabah).

"Although it can be argued that the calculation of the quantum of the 40% of net federal revenues derived from Sabah might still take some time, at least, the PM cum Finance Minister, should have acknowledged the matter which has been presented to him earlier his year," said Yong who is a member of the Special Committee on Sabah issues chaired by Sabah Star Chairman Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

The committee was initiated by Foreign Minister, Datuk Anifah Aman, who hails from Sabah.

Yong said that Sabah people expect that this 40% entitlement and other Sabah issues must be resolved affirmatively soonest, and not remain as another promise for the 14th general elections.
