Sabah police said they have yet to verify a report claiming that plane wreckage with human remains and a Malaysian flag was discovered at Tawi Tawi Island in southern Philippines.
Sabah state police commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the person who had lodged the report called Jamil Omar will be interviewed to obtain further details.
“Sabah PDRM cannot verify at the moment whether the information is authentic,” Jalaluddin said in a statement yesterday.
The Star Online reported yesterday that the police report claiming the discovery of wreckage from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 on the southern Philippines island was lodged at the Sandakan police station Saturday.
US news channel CNN reported last month that French authorities confirmed with “certainty” that the plane flaperon found July on Reunion Island, a French island in the Indian Ocean, came from Flight MH370.
