All schools except those in Kelantan, Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan have been ordered to close for two days starting tomorrow, said the Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid.
His announcement comes as ‘unhealthy’ or ‘very unhealthy’ air quality is reported in most parts of Peninsular Malaysia today due to haze, while Shah Alam had briefly recorded ‘hazardous’ air quality this morning.
“The schools involved do not need to replace their schooling days following this closure,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Despite the closures, Mahdzir said the PT3, STAM, SPM and STPM public examinations will proceed as scheduled.
“Candidates will be assisted and given reminders to always abide with the warnings issued by the relevant authorities throughout the haze disaster,” he said.
