Strong winds leave Semporna school roofless

KOTA KINABALU - Some pupils will have to have their classes elsewhere after the roofs of their classrooms were blown away by strong winds in Semporna district.

District officer Dr. Chacho Bulah said when contacted that a storm hit during the wee hours of Friday and the damage was only realised when teachers and staff arrived at Sk Bangau-Bangau at about 6am Saturday.

“So far, this is the only report of damage received. We will work with the district education department to handle the situation,” he said.

Authorities in the district are also accessing the situation but have yet to receive other damage reports.
