KUALA LUMPUR - Police have opened three investigation papers on former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pix) over his repeated calls for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak to step down.
"The police have opened two investigation papers on complaints lodged against Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"One investigation concerns Klang Report 33074/14 and it is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code," said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in a parliamentary written reply.
He was responding to Tan Kok Wai (DAP-Cheras), who asked the Home Minister to reveal the investigation results and subsequent actions taken by the police on Mahathir, who has been aggressively pressuring the prime minister to resign.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister said the case will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for review and further instructions once investigations have been completed.
"The police are also conducting investigations on Jinjang Report 18448/2015 under Section 500 of the Penal Code.
"The case was referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers on Oct 9 for further instructions," he said.
However, Mahathir recently told reporters that he is yet to be contacted by police on the inquiry against him.
