Police Must Investigate Nurul Izzah – Ex-IGP

KUALA LUMPUR - The meeting between vice president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Nurul Izzah and Jacel H. Kiram, daughter of Jamalul Kiram III could inflict negative perceptions from both local and international communities.

Former national police chief, Tan Sri Musa Hassan said, taking pictures with individuals that are deemed as enemy of the state is a sensitive matter.

“It is sensitive (for Malaysians) because she (Nurul Izzah) took pictures with those who invaded our country,” he said when contacted by Malaysian Digest earlier.

Musa expressed his fears on how her action could spark speculation among the public or outsiders, misleading them to assume Malaysians have ties with these intruders.

“We don’t want people to assume that some Malaysians have connections with them (the Tanduo Lahad Datu, Sabah intruders).

“Hence, she (Nurul Izzah) must explain why she was photographed with the enemy to prevent further speculation,” he opined.

Musa also urged the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to investigate the connection between Nurul Izzah and Jacel as part of a national security measure.

“The police need to investigate her relationship with the sultan of Sulu’s daughter because it involves the safety of the country,” he urged.

The meeting between Nurul Izzah and Jacel H. Kiram, the daughter of Lahad Datu’s invasion mastermind had sparked questions among the public and some politicians.

Her actions were condemned and deemed insensitive, especially to Sabahans whose family members had died fighting the terrorists from the southern Philippines.

On February 2013, the group of terrorists from southern Philippines known as Jamalul Kiram III trespassed the Malaysian shores and landed in Kampung Tandua, Lahad Datu.

Jamalul Kiram III who claimed he is the rightful heir of sultan of Sulu launched an attack on Sabah in an attempt avenge the land they claimed as theirs. The attack left eight police officers dead.
