KOTA KINABALU - Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah headed by Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin is keen to join newly-formed United Sabah Alliance (USA) also known as Gabungan Sabah.
Lajim said his party's struggles were similar to that of Gabungan Sabah which comprises Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS), STAR and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).
"I will bring this up with the supreme council and we will decide from there," he said after attending the launching of USA's charter here yesterday.
The charter among others stated that parties would pursue Sabah's rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement. It was signed by PCS president Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan of STAR and SAPP's Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee.
Earlier, Alliance (Gabungan) chairman Datuk Mohd Noor Mansoor said Sabah opposition parties had to be unified if they were to make any impact in the coming general election.
"Never before in our history do we have so many parties," he said, adding that there were already 10 parties in the opposition ranks. - BP extract
