Rani Kulup on horse at rally to prevent clashes
The Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) president said he wanted no part of either rally, but could be on hand to prevent the situation from getting out of control.
“I have chosen to be non-inclusive with the rally but I might make an unexpected appearance,” he told Malay Mail Online when contacted today.
Abdul Rani previously claimed that he will attend the Bersih 5 rally on a rented horse if electoral watchdog group Bersih 2.0 insists on proceeding with the event.
Today, he said his mode of transport to the rally will be a surprise, but was confident that it will steal attention away from both groups.
“That is a secret whether I”ll be coming on a horse or even a helicopter. Wait for my epic appearance to save both sides from disaster,” he claimed.
The character most known for lodging police reports added that if he does attend, it will be with up to 30 of the “black shirts” from MJMM.
The Bersih 5 rally by the polls reform group seeks free and fair elections, a clean government and a stronger democracy.
Bersih 2.0 insist that the rally has met all the requirements of the Peaceful Assembly Act, while the police insist otherwise.
The street demonstration is scheduled to take place at Dataran Merdeka, with two meeting points for protesters to gather at — Dataran Maybank and Masjid Negara — before heading to the historic square.
The “Red Shirts” led by Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos will purportedly gather 300,000 people for a counter rally.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today expressed concern that the repeated clashes between the two groups will occur again, on a larger scale, this Saturday.
