Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (pix) will be giving his statement to Bukit Aman police on Monday morning over his Parliamentary speech on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
According to The Star's Bahasa Malaysia portal mStar, a source close to the Semporna MP said that the police contacted the former Umno vice-president on Wednesday.
"After a discussion, both parties agreed for Datuk Seri Shafie to go to Bukit Aman at 10am on Monday," he said when contacted on Sunday.
The source added that Shafie, the Parti Warisan Sabah president, will be accompanied by his lawyer and is prepared to cooperate with the police investigation.
Prior to this, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said they had enough basis to investigate three former ministers under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) and Sedition Act.
According to Khalid, the 1MDB case is still under investigation and revealing certain information comes under the Sedition Act.
The three former ministers are former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, former finance minister II Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, and Mohd Shafie, the former rural and regional development minister.
It was reported that during the debate on the 2017 Budget speech in Parliament, Ahmad Husni asked the Government to state the reasons why 1MDB was established and whether any action had been taken against its management.
