KOTA KINABALU - A sinkhole stopped traffic along the Likas road which links many small towns to the city on Tuesday morning.
The sinkhole, which was reported on Monday, became bigger that it now covers a single lane of road near Servay Hypermarket Likas, not far from Kota Kinabalu.
The sinkhole appeared after a sewerage pipe burst or leaked sewerage pipes.
Officials from the Sabah Public Works Department barricaded a section of the road to prevent accidents.
Engineers are now inspecting the sinkhole.
