EPF tells factory worker that she is dead

A FACTORY worker who had gone to the Subang Jaya EPF office to check on her savings was told she was dead – and that her account was closed.
Makkal Osai reported that factory worker C. Saraswathy, 54 was told her savings of RM56,815.23 was paid to one Krisan Sigh, who claimed to be her guardian and produced her death certificate. It showed that she had died off old age on May 9, 2008.

She said she was surprised the EPF had released her money to a “guardian” when she has a husband and five children.

PPP national information chief Datuk Chandrakumanan, who is helping her, said the EPF should have checked her previous record as she had withdrawn money earlier for her daughter’s medical expenses.
