After the revelation yesterday by several blogs and portals including Harakahdaily about a non-citizen registered as a voter – only to find the person’s status changed to ‘Malaysian citizen’ hours later, a PAS division has discovered many similar cases.
According to the division’s deputy chairman, Mismah, a voter in Ijok whose status had been listed as a permanent resident holding a MyPR red card on the National Registration Department’s website before it changed to a blue MyKad, is not the last person to be that lucky.
Khairul Anuar Manap revealed a total of 52 similar cases in which the permanent residents had their status changed to Malaysian citizens in matter of hours since the news made headlines yesterday.

Of these, 28 are registered in the Titiwangsa constituency (held by the late Dr Lo’Lo Mohd Ghazali of PAS), five in Segambut, eight in Batu, four in Wangsa Maju, six in Lembah Pantai and one in Bandar Tun Razak.
Khairul said the results from the NRD’s website had been screen captured for the purpose of complaints at the EC office in Jalan Raja Muda Aziz.
However, the EC officer said the 52 were Malaysian citizens according to the NRD’s system.
“All the names had become citizens in a matter of hours,” said Khairul, adding the names had been voters even before the status change.
“Is there a conspiracy between EC and NRD to ensure UMNO-Barisan Nasional’s victory?” he questioned, echoing fears by several Pakatan Rakyat leaders earlier that the government, NRD and EC were in a secret plan to approve thousands of citizenship applications in exchange for them to vote for BN.
Khairul warned the authorities not to take the matter lightly, saying there should be immediate action before the situation called for drastic measures.
Earlier yesterday, blogger “Perisik Rakyat” uncovered 169 names whose identification numbers have the two-digit “71″ after the six digits denoting one’s date of birth.
When their details were cross checked with the National NRD’s online checking system (http://www.jpn.gov.my/semakic/index.php), it was found that at least one cardholder, Mismah, was listed as permanent resident.
In an incredible twist, less than an hour after our first search, a check on the same person returned a different result showing she was a blue MyKad holder.
The EC’s website (http://daftarj.spr.gov.my/) lists Mismah as an eligible voter at Selangor’s Ijok state constituency currently held by Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim.

ReplyDeleteMismah hold the status of permanent residents (PR) on July 17, 1982 and received citizenship on January 31, 2011. so the 4 hours is the process of obtaining the IC. actually the process can be shorter than 4 hours.
