PBS springing back claiming credit on recent RCI announcement after years of silence in the BN
KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), formed 27 years ago, remains consistent in championing the rights and welfare of the people in Sabah said its president Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
He said though the party had to face many challenges and a tough political scenario throughout the period, PBS had remained steadfast, strong, united and determined.
Pairin who is also the Deputy Chief Minister said the success achieved by the party was due to the continues support of the people at all levels, including leaders in the party, supreme council members, division heads and members.
“When I look back at the history and the difficult challenges faced by Parti Bersatu Sabah over the years, I am pleased with the strong support given by the leaders and the members.
“Let us renew our plight to continue championing the struggles for the welfare of all the people in Sabah,” he told reporters at his 72nd birthday celebrations at the Dewan Putra Luyang, near here last night.
He added that the people must remain united in order to effectively voice their needs to the government.
Pairin said that the government was very perceptive to the needs of the people and wished to protect their interests but to enable the government to help the people, it was important that they remained united in voicing their needs.
“Our unity will make us stronger in voicing our views and concerns. The government is also always listening to the people and would do all it can to fulfill their development needs,” he said.
Also present were PBS deputy president Dr Maximus Ongkili, Dr Yee Moh Chai and Almudin Kaida.
PBS was the first party to call for the setting up of a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in the state.
The call became a reality when Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak announced the setting up of a RCI, last week.

DeleteSemasa PBS menjadi pemerintah dan seterusnya menjadi pembangkang, dan kemudian masuk ke dalam BN, keputusan RCI sudah terlambat, terlalu banyak PATI mendapat ic projek. TOR pun tidak memenuhi inspirasi rakyat sabah. Sebelum beberapa pemimpin bn keluar, RCI tidak dilaksanakan, jika lajim dan bumburing tidak keluar bn, pasti RCI hanya 3 huruf sahaja. Masa semua dalam bn tidak kedengaran pun RCI dilaksanakan.
ReplyDeleteSebelum menentukan bahawa RCI ini tidak berguna, baik kita biar panel RCI menjalankan siasatan mereka terlebih dahulu. Belum cuba, belum tahu. Kerajaan Pusat sudah menubuhkan sebuah panel dan mengenal pasti Terma Rujukan, cuma tunggu arahan Datuk Najib untuk memulakan penyiasatan sahaja. Sabar kita menunggu.

DeletePBS is the first party to request for the RCI in 1994 but was rejected by Datuk Anwar Ibrahim at that time. If it weren't for Datuk Chua Soi Lek to raise it up, I'm sure many people would not remember that.

ReplyDeleteHe said PBS expects all Sabah BN component parties would cooperate and work closely to ensure the royal probe on illegal immigrants succeed.
ReplyDeleteHenrynus described the successful formation of the RCI and its terms of reference by the Prime Minister as a winnable strategy to counter opposition propaganda and win over the hearts and minds of the people of Sabah.
The formation of the RCI is clearly a victory for the people of Sabah, and certainly a historic moment that will decide the fate of a nation, especially the future history of Sabah.

He said the RCI announcement was the outcome of a long political process of aggregating grassroots sentiments, articulating issues, formulating appropriate RCI policies and now implementing them.

Henrynus also congratulated Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman for his foresight to set up the Sabah BN committee on citizenship under the chairmanship of Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, who is also PBS president, which served as the catalyst in the formation of the RCI.
