“Yes, we did discuss this at Upko’s supreme council meeting. There were people who wanted to talk about this so we put it to the supreme council and it was deliberated.
“But the majority voice was for us to go along with BN because of what BN has been doing [like setting up the Royal Commission of Inquiry] and other matters.
“So, yes it was discussed but the party decided not to leave BN,” he said, putting to rest statements flogged by Upko’s former deputy president Wilfred Bumburing and ex-senator Maijol Mahap.
Both Bumburing and Maijol had defected and are now under Pakatan Rakyat-friendly Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS).
Bumburing had last month revealed details of secret meetings held with Dompok over Upko’s status in BN.
He disclosed that party leaders discussed the possibility of consenting to the “silent” wishes of the party’s grassroots members for Upko to leave the ruling coalition government.
Last week, Maijol reportedly said that the only reason the exit did not happen was because Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had promised to announce the setting up of RCI.
Said Maijol: “Upko leaders were initially prepared to take Upko out of BN and join Pakatan Rakyat.
“In fact, immediately before a function on July 29, 2012, there were suggestions coming from several Upko leaders requesting Bumburing and his group to postpone their intended date to quit BN-Upko.
“But they eventually agreed to let Bumburing go first while Upko leaders sort out some technicalities.
‘But all this changed when suddenly the prime minister said that the announcement of the formation of RCI would be made on Aug 11, 2012.”
While Upko treasurer Dr Marcus Mojigoh slammed Maijol’s statement, saying he was making up stories, Dompok’s however was conceding.
He declined to censor Maijol and Bumburing saying: “They are not wrong. There is nothing for us to hide. I think everybody knows we had a meeting and we spoke about it.”

DeleteChief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has urged Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders in Sabah to set aside party issues that could prove damaging to the transformation programme initiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for the people, state and country.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThe Sabah BN chief said: "We must be loyal (to BN); we cannot be divided and insincere in BN. I always advise colleagues, friends in Umno and BN that we should all be united and work with each other.
ReplyDelete"If we cannot resolve an issue, we should refer it to the top leadership...that is our way. The prime minister has always been willing to hear us out and we are indeed, grateful and thankful," he said.
He pointed out that "leaders come and go" but what remained pertinent was the BN struggle.
ReplyDeleteThe Barisan Nasional (BN) in Sabah is thriving as a united front, according to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
ReplyDelete"We don't have any problem with component parties and if there are issues, we discuss them as a family," he said to reporters after launching the Sabah Academic Excellence Convention 2011 here.

ReplyDeleteMusa who is also state BN chairman was asked about the statement by Liberal Democratic party (LDP) president Datuk Liew Vui Keong on his leadership.
ReplyDeleteLiew who is also Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department recently in a Chinese daily praised Musa, saying, socio-economic and infrastructure development in Sabah had been very encouraging and the people lived in peace and harmony under his leadership.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Musa acknowledged that some members in the component might not like him or other fellow members, but this did not mean they were not cooperating to strengthen unity in the BN.
