The College graduates of the 1970s are now middle agers in their 50s and 60s. Now, there are more Sabahans who are College educated whose parents are also College educated.
Sabah is no longer a country bumpkin where the one-eyed man rules.
However, under UMNO/BN government Sabah has declined from being the richest state in the Federation to being the poorest.
The government has reverted to being controlled and dominated by Pakistanis such as Musa Aman and Harris Salleh. The Pakistanis represent a tiny minority among the people in Sabah. Why this is so is because UMNO has enabled them to be in power in Sabah.
This is an affront to Sabahans of Sabah origin, namely, the Dusuns, Chinese and Bajaus. Their interests are ignored and the development of Sabah is more imaginary than reality.
It is time for Sabahan politicians in BN to come out of their imaginary world and join the world of reality, and work for Sabahans and ensure that Sabah becomes the richest state in the Federation once again. It is time for STAR's Jeffrey to close ranks with SAPP to ensure our local party get a chance to realized Sabah's autonomy.
It is time for Pairin, Dompok, Kurup and other Sabahan leaders in BN to come out of the Pakistani-Musa/Harris dominated UMNO/BN government in Sabah, and join SAPP to strengthen the Opposition. It is time to work together and get out from their position of empowering the tiny minority Pakistanis in dominating the government in Sabah.
This minority has more interests in self-aggrandizements than building and developing Sabah to meet the socio-economic challenges of the 21st century.
The UMNO/BN track record in governance is dismal. They are ill-prepared to help protect Sabah from foreign terrorists, infiltrators, usurpers and invaders. The infrastructures in Sabah are worst now than what they were 20 over years ago. It takes commuters 2 hours just to drive from Kota Kinabalu to Tamparuli on a weekend. Lining the roads from Kota Kinabalu to the other feeder towns along the roads, are thick undergrowth and vegetation. No development is seen as it used to be in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
It is time for a change in Sabah. It is time for Sabahans to unite and join SAPP to form the next government. A clean, competent and Sabah-based government is needed in Sabah. This can be achieved when SAPP forms the next Sabah government that represents the majority of the people of Sabah in their pursuit of happiness for all Sabahans.

The government will continue to promote greater participation of Bumiputeras in business and entrepreneurship in line with its objective to create a successful and resilient Bumiputera Commercial and Industrial Community (BCIC), said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
ReplyDelete“The federal and state governments are always looking for ways to help the traders and entrepreneurs in Sabah to thrive,” he said at an assembly of the National Business Venture Group Economic Fund (TEKUN Nasional) entrepreneurs here yesterday.
ReplyDeleteHe said the BN government under the leadership of the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would always provide opportunities to traders to grow their businesses such as providing them with the TEKUN loan.
ReplyDelete“The government is also implementing various initiatives for the prosperity and wellbeing of the people.
“Thus, a variety of programmes have been and will be implemented by the state and federal governments to help realise our goal of becoming a high income, developed nation by the year 2020,” he said.
ReplyDeleteIn this regard, Musa urged the entrepreneurs to assist one another not only to ensure their businesses continue to grow and be competitive but also to ensure that the government’s efforts to bring about prosperity and wellbeing to all sections of the people in Sabah and Malaysia would become successful.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, since its inception in 1998, TEKUN Nasional has given out RM2.5 billion in loans to 244,863 traders and entrepreneurs throughout the country, he said.
ReplyDeleteIt has disbursed loans amounting to RM171.3 million to 20,762 entrepreneurs in Sabah alone during the same period, he added.
During the first two months of this year, TEKUN Nasional has disbursed loans totalling RM87 million to more than 7,690 entrepreneurs while RM8 million in loans were given to 851 entrepreneurs in Sabah.
On behalf of the state government, Musa thanked the federal government for giving a lot of TEKUN loans to Sabahans.
ReplyDeleteHe advised the loanees to work hard to developing their business as well as to repay the loans
“If we have the determination, surely we will succeed… and we should be thrifty, work hard and manage our finance well,” Musa advised TEKUN Nasional entrepreneurs while sharing his experience as a businessman before he entered into politics.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Musa also urged the people of Sabah to be thankful and grateful for all the help and facilities provided by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
ReplyDelete“The people of Sabah know how to be grateful and they will repay the leaders’ kindness by voting for the BN in the 13th general election,” he said.
ReplyDeleteHe said although recently the people of Sabah were shocked and saddened by the news of the Lahad Datu intrusion incident, the BN government is confident of resolving problem from the outset.
ReplyDelete“At first we took the best approach of not wanting to spill any blood as this is the Malaysian way but they (the intruders) did not want to negotiate, and chose the bad way that cost the lives of our security personnel.
ReplyDelete“We have launched the attack and now we will no longer compromise and so if anyone intrudes Sabah … this is how we defend our sovereignty,” he said.
In the meantime, Musa also denounced the action of some opposition leaders who like to spread lies and said that what happened was just a ‘drama’ by the government.
ReplyDeleteHe said this was the difference in attitude between the opposition and the BN leaders.
ReplyDelete“The opposition leaders are irresponsible and make treacherous remarks while the BN government is always ready to face whatever challenges that come its way,” said Musa.
He said while the people in Sabah continue to lead a normal and peaceful life, the sacrifices of security personnel who lost their lives would always be appreciated.
ReplyDelete“We will continue to strengthen unity so that together with the security forces we will defend the sovereignty of the safety of our nation,” said Musa.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, 26 TEKUN entrepreneurs from each parliamentary constituency in Sabah and Labuan received Outstanding TEKUN Entrepreneur Awards while 709 Sabah entrepreneurs received TEKUN loans totalling more than RM6 million at the event.
ReplyDeleteTEKUN Nasional also donated RM20,000 to the widows of policemen killed in the Lahad Datu and Semporna shooting incidents at the function which was attended by about 4,000 TEKUN entrepreneurs.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin, Assistant Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology cum Karambunai Assemblyman Datuk Jainab Ahmad, Inanam Assemblyman Datuk Johnny Goh, CEO of TEKUN Nasional Datuk Abdul Rahim Hassan and Deputy Chairman of TEKUN Nasional cum Sepanggar Umno chief, Datuk Jumat Idris.
The intrusion in Sabah by an armed group from Southern Philippine has made the people realise that the responsibility of maintaining peace and preserving the country's sovereignty involved all Malaysians.
ReplyDeleteThe bloody incident which led to the death of eight members of the country's security forces had incited patriotic sentiments among the people, regardless of religion, race and political leaning.
ReplyDeleteThe reaction from various parties through the social websites such as the Facebook, Twitter and blogs among others expressed anger at the intruders to the extent that some had offered to join the Royal Malaysia Police immediately and fight together in defending national sovereignty.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there were groups alleging that the intrusion was a drama staged by the government helmed by Umno, the people including supporters of the opposition parties criticised the cruel attack by the terrorists and called on everyone not to politicise the matter and urged the people to unite in defending Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteThe people are aware of the importance of defending Malaysia, as a sovereign nation, from negative elements trying to destroy national harmony and stability.
ReplyDeletePrime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on Thursday assured the people in Sabah that the government under his leadership would do anything to ensure the safety, peace and sovereignty of the Land Below the Wind.
ReplyDeleteThe intrusion by the terrorist group masterminded by Jamarul Kiram III had attacked Sabah on the excuse of claiming the heritage rights of the Sulu sultanate, which had shamed the Sulu race and was criticised by the Sabah Suluk ethnic group, who had pledged their loyalty to the government to defend the sovereignty of Sabah through a memorandum to the prime minister.
ReplyDeleteA lecturer at the Social Science Study Centre of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Ahmad Atory Hussein said Malaysians currently realised the importance of unity and defending the country's sovereignty.
ReplyDelete"It is normal for the people to unite whenever such a situation crops up. Now they begin to realise that the issue is not a drama. "This is a threat to all of us and not (the people of) Lahad Datu alone. Now, I notice that the spirit of patriotism is very strong to the extent that stories about the 13th general election have become less important," he said
ReplyDeleteHe said the negative perception on the country's security forces had begun to be erased when the people realised that the task of maintaining peace was not an easy one.
ReplyDeleteThe deputy dean of the Social Science Study Centre USM Sivamurugan Pandian hoped that the patriotic spirit that was peaking up now would not be something seasonal.
ReplyDelete"This is a matter of security, sovereignty and national peace. I believe no Malaysian supports the intruders but are standing united together with the country's security forces. "The spirit of patriotism must always be instilled in whatever situation and cannot be seasonal in nature," he said.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, a youth in Kampung Tanjung Labian near Lahad Datu, Ali John Junaidi, 27, said he greatly appreciated the deeds of the security forces in looking after Sabah's security.
ReplyDeleteSaodah Madjusa, 26, also from the same village, felt that it was time for all Malaysians to unite to ensure that Malaysia remained peaceful.
ReplyDeleteSaodah hoped that the security forces would get rid of the remnants of the terrorist group immediately.
ReplyDeleteAccording to estimate Sabah's poverty rate dropped sharply from 24.2 percent in 2004 to 19.7 percent in 2009 when the first flush of high impact anti povety programmes made itself felt in the rural areas. The state government continued these measures right through the nineth and tenth Malaysia Plan.
ReplyDeleteIn a continuing effort to further reduce the poverty rate in the state, the state government allocated a sum of RM202.12 million to carry out poverty eradication programmes in its 2013 budget.
ReplyDeleteSabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman is confident that the various poverty eradication programmes, complemented by similar Federal government programmes, would reduce the poverty problems especially the hardcore poverty in Sabah.
ReplyDeleteThe MESEJ programme was started in 2003 by the state government as one of the ways to tackle the problem of rural poverty.
ReplyDeleteUnder the programme, participants were encouraged to work on plantation estates to earn wages as well as a share of the estate's profit in a sharing scheme devised by the government. The government also provides housing facilities for the participants as well as other amenities.
ReplyDeleteSo far there are now 44 MESEJ programmes throughout Sabah, which consist of 29 Sejahtera Mini Oil Palm and Rubber Estate, 6 Aquaculture Sejahtera Mini Estate, 7 Micro Aquaculture Sejahtera Mini Estate and 2 Integrated Sejahtera Mini Estate involving more than 1,500 participants.
ReplyDeleteOut of the current 44 MESEJ programmes, 5 MESEJ programmes have been set up in the East Coast of Sabah namely Nala in Lahad Datu, Log Buton in Semporna, Pulau Sebatik in Tawau and two in Kunak, MESEJ Pangi and MESEJ Sapang.
ReplyDeleteEncouraged by the success of the MESEJ programme the government has plan to open up three new estates in 2013 in Kota Belud, Beaufort and Kinabatangan as well as one at Membakut. The MESEJ programme for this year will focus mainly on palm oil.
ReplyDeleteDuring a visit to Kg Pangi MESEJ in Kunak, Minister of Rural Development Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin praised the MESEJ aquaculture programme in Kg Pangi as another example of the effectiveness of the government's programme as it has helped the target group greatly. He said through the cultivation of seaweed, participants of the programme managed to earn between RM3,000 to RM13,000 per month.
ReplyDeleteHe said besides improving the income of the participants, the government has also constructed 100 houses in Kg Pangi MESEJ for the participants of the programme. Ewon also revealed that the construction of 30 houses for the Sapang MESEJ programme will be completed in February 2013.
ReplyDeleteMESEJ Sapang has 240 acres of land cultivated with oil palm.
ReplyDeleteWith the introduction of the 4 new MESEJ programmes in 2013 the government hopes to increase the number of participants from 1,500 people to more than 2,000 people.
Besides the MESEJ programmes, other government poverty eradication programmes are the PPRT Estate, Agropolitan, 1 AZAM, Housing Assistance Program (PBR), Urban Poverty Eradication Programme (PPKB) and Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB).
