KOTA KINABALU: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sabah yesterday announced a major leadership reshuffle, which saw several divisional chiefs being replaced by their deputies.
Its state chief Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin announced yesterday that PKR Sabah 'supreme council' had endorsed the leadership changes made by the party’s Bureau of Politics, which involved nine “problematic divisions”.
He said these divisions were Sepanggar, Silam, Putatan, Kota Marudu, Kudat, Sandakan, Semporna, Kalabakan and Tenom.
Speaking to reporters after chairing the PKR Sabah supreme council meeting here yesterday, Lajim said the party had also made a decision on the reshuffling of its state-level leadership.
“We have announced this before and today we are confirming this, including the appointment of Moyog assemblyman Terence Siambun as vice president I to replace Jelani Hamdan,” he said.
He also confirmed Haji Awang Tengah Awang Amin as the party’s new information chief to replace Jeremy Malajad, who had left PKR.
Information chief II Apandy Angindi will take over the post of treasurer left vacant by Terence following his promotion.
Apandy’s post meanwhile will now be held by Adris Taripin.
Mustapha Sakmud will take over the assistant secretary III post from Datu Mustafa Datu Tambuyung.
On other developments, Lajim said PKR Sabah has planned a number of major events for the remainder of the year, the including a seminar on party machinery to be attended by some 80 leaders from across the State.
For next year, he said the main programmes that have been scheduled included a state-level Christmas open house to be attended by PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on January 12.
Anwar will also be giving a talk on Sabah autonomy to a 2,000 – 3,000 strong crowd after the open house, before returning again to Sabah to attend the State PKR’s Chinese New Year open house.
“We (supreme council leaders) have also decided to conduct a statewide tour from January until before Chinese New Year to meet the grassroots leaders and the people on the ground, especially in places that we have yet to visit,” he said.
