Increased enforcement in ESSCom Area, curfew in Kunak

KOTA KINABALU - The number of soldiers in the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) area will be increased to enhance enforcement of security, said Eastern Region (Sabah/Sarawak) commander Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar.

This is to assist the other security forces personnel, such as the police, to face any eventuality in the Sabah east coast, he said.

Besides soldiers, the military assets would also be augmented to beef up security, he told reporters at a breaking-of-the-fast with personnel from the 5th Infantry Brigade at the As-Salam Mosque at the Lok Kawi Camp last night.

Mohd Zaki also reminded the people against being influenced by all kinds of news being spread on the social media.

He said they should refer to the authorities, especially the police, to find out about the actual situation.
