Man seeks justice against police mistreatment

LAHAD DATU - 41-year-old Chia Chew Kiong, who works as an Advertisement Designer, is seeking justice for being mistreated by the police when he was on his way to visit his Muslim friends in Kampung Puyut, Lahad Datu.

He was on his way to rendezvous with his nephew Lee Siaw Foo, and some friends before proceeding into Kg Puyut but was suddenly stopped by three policemen who questioned him why he was there.

He told the police that he is going to visit some of his muslim friends in the kampung nearby but they refused to accept his explanation. They said that there are no Chinese in the said kampung and instead accused him of intending to buy syabu. He was also asked to produced his identity card.

He was arrested and brought to the police station in the police car and they forced him to take a urine test for drugs. They only released him after the test came out negative and brought him back to his car which was parked just outside the kampung without offering an apology.

Chia is therefoe seeking justice for the injustice, humiliation inflicted upon him and they (police) had been rude, unreasoning, acted in an unprofessional manner.

He subsequently made a police report against the three policemen concerned.
