KOTA KINABALU - The gang who is believed responsible for the robberies at an electrical appliances shop and supermarket this month, has struck again.
This time three men robbed a 24-hour convenience store near the Inanam bus terminal while armed with a machete here yesterday morning.
City police chief ACP M Chandra confirmed the case, adding that investigation was ongoing to identify and track down the suspects.
Two employees, a male and a female, were working at the counter when one of the suspects donning a cap entered the store while two lingered outside the premises around 3am yesterday.
Sensing something was wrong, the staff attempted to exit the store but they were stopped by the man, who pulled out a machete while warning them to stay put.
The suspect then ordered the employees to surrender the cash in the cash register, around RM600 in total, which both of them complied.
After the robbers fled, the employees immediately contacted their manager and lodged a report at the Inanam police station.
On October 7, the Senheng outlet at Kepayan Point along Penampang Bypass was robbed by two men armed with a pistol each, who ran away with cash, smartphones and a tablet amounting to RM12,000.
Two days later, two masked men armed with pistol robbed Chiu Tai Seng Supermarket near Sekolah Menengah Kian Kok in the presence of customers and escaped with around RM3,000 in cash.
