Khairuddin Abu Hassan, from Penang’s Batu Kawan Umno division, filed the report with the Dang Wangi district police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
"I feel suspicious and doubtful of the financial management of 1MDB which is not transparent,” Khairuddin said.
Apart from the opposition, which has described 1MDB as the "mother of all scandals", former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has also been a staunch critic of the ailing investment firm.
The report was filed against 1MDB and its board of directors.
Khairuddin also warned that if no action is taken, then he would be forced to lodge a police report against Najib in his capacity as finance minister.
